To begin with, I would like to point out that there are many different types of sugar. Particular foods such as fruits, vegetables, dairy as well as sweet potatoes will have a healthy amount of natural sugars.

If you aren't an actual junk food addict like me, then it's fine to enjoy a little when the social circumstances require, for example on birthdays and holidays. There is no requirement for added sugar and if consumed in large quantities it will make people sick and unhealthy.
It's addictive, results in cravings and overeating, degrades your teeth, raises body fat, contributes to type II diabetes, heart disease, and the list goes on and on.
Personally, I think overweight individuals might lose a respectable amount of fat merely by cutting out sugar, which includes all kinds of added sugar including corn syrups. So, my personal opinion on how much sugar per day is none.
And that does not include pigging out on cheat days every week. It is like any poison, the nicotine in cigarettes as an example. A small amount ain't gonna kill you, but absolute zero is clearly the best option.
